Profile of Shahzad Aslam Raja
Shehzad Aslam Raja, originally named Shehzad Aslam, was born on 4 April 1982 in Ahmadpur Sharqia, Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Raised in the literary atmosphere of Southern Punjab, he is a noted columnist, essayist, and writer known for his simple yet bold expression on regional culture, public issues, patriotism, and social concerns.
He began his literary journey in 1996 through children’s magazines and newspapers. His first short story, “Kash Aisa Ho Jaye,” was published in the weekly children’s section “Phool Aur Kaliyan” of the daily Nawa-i-Waqt Multan. Later, he established himself as a columnist, with his writings appearing in several national newspapers including Aftab, Pakistan, Nawa-i-Waqt, Samaa, and Hareef.
His writings are marked by simplicity, emotional depth, social awareness, and a strong sense of patriotism. His notable books include “Awargi,” “Phir Awargi,” “Ek Aur Awargi,” “Be-Aawaz Hero,” and the Punjabi travelogue “Turde Turde,” which received an award in children’s literature in 2018.
