About The Author

Identity:

Hakim Syed Abdul Hai Hasani was a well-known Islamic scholar, historian, writer, researcher, and an active member of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama.

He was born on 22 December 1869 in Takiya Kalan village of Raebareli district. He belonged to a religious and scholarly family where moral and religious education was given special importance. He received his early education at home and at his maternal house. Later, he studied in important centers like Allahabad, Fatehpur, Bhopal, Lucknow, and Kanpur under famous scholars. He gained expertise in Hadith, Fiqh, literature, history, and medicine.

After completing his education, he devoted his life to teaching, writing, and institutional services. He remained closely connected with Nadwatul Ulama from the beginning and played an important role in its development. At first, he worked as an Assistant Nazim, and in 1915 he was appointed as Nazim. During his leadership, Nadwa made great progress in education and organization. He worked sincerely without seeking financial benefits and earned his livelihood through medical practice.

He was the father of Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadvi (Ali Mian Nadvi) and the author of “Gul-e-Rana.”

His literary services were very valuable. He wrote many important books on history, biographies, Islamic culture, and literature. “Nuzhat-ul-Khatir” is his most famous work. Other well-known books include “Yaad-e-Ayyam,” “Tahzib-ul-Akhlaq,” and “Al-Hind Fil Ahd-ul-Islami.” His writing style was simple, clear, and impressive.

Death:

He passed away on 2 February 1923 in Lucknow. He was buried in his ancestral village, Takiya Kalan (Raebareli).
