ABOUT THE LIBRARY
Ibteda Digital Library is a non-profit digital literary initiative launched in 2016 to preserve and revive the rich literary heritage of Urdu. Established by a community of researchers, scholars, and Urdu enthusiasts, the project is committed to safeguarding the literary, cultural, and intellectual legacy of the region in digital form and making it accessible to readers across the world. Its primary mission is to preserve both classical and contemporary Urdu literature for future generations while expanding its global reach.
The library houses a carefully curated collection of more than 5,000 books and over 3 million pages, including classical and modern poetry, literary prose, rare journals and periodicals, historical manuscripts, important documents, and scholarly reference works. Together, these collections represent the richness and diversity of Urdu's literary, cultural, and intellectual traditions.
A selected portion of Ibteda Digital Library's valuable collection is now also available through the Rekhta Digital Library, enabling readers and researchers worldwide to access this rare literary and scholarly heritage.
