When this is only the beginning of our journey, sahab
na jaane kitne laqab de rahā hai dil tum ko
huzūr jān-e-vafā aur ham-navā sāhab
My heart is bestowing so many titles upon you,
Lord, Life of my Faith, the One who Speaks with Me, sahab
tumhārī yaad meñ taare shumār kartī huuñ
na jaane ḳhatm kahāñ ho ye silsila sāhab
I count the stars in your memory
Who knows where this series will end, sahab
kitāb-e-zīst kā unvān ban ga.e ho tum
hamāre pyaar kī dekho ye intihā sāhab
You have become the title of the book of life
Such is the extent of my love, sahab
tumhārā chehra mire aks se ubhartā hai
na jaane kaun badaltā hai ā.īna sāhab
Your face rises out my reflection
Who knows who changes the mirror, saheb
rah-e-vafā meñ zarā ehtiyāt lāzim hai
har ek gaam pe hotā hai hādsa sāhab
A little caution is necessary on the path of loyalty
At every steps an accident takes place, sahab
siyāh raat hai mahtāb ban ke aa jaao
ye 'indirā' ke laboñ par hai iltijā sāhab
Come, like the moon on a dark night
This is the entreaty on Indira's lips, sahab
