First Poet of Rekhta/Hindvi. Musician and Disciple of Sufi Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia. Known for his "pahelis", which form part of Indian folklore. He is famous for inventing two most important musical instruments tabla & sitar. Wrote "Ze-hal-e-miskin…" one of the earliest prototypes of Urdu ghazal written in Persian & Hindvi.

ze-hāl-e-miskīñ makun taġhāful durā.e naināñ banā.e batiyāñ

ki tāb-e-hijrāñ nadāram ai jaañ na lehū kaahe lagā.e chhatiyāñ

ze-haal-e-miskin makun taghaful durae nainan banae batiyan

ki tab-e-hijran nadaram ai jaan na lehu kahe lagae chhatiyan

chuuñ sham-e-sozāñ chuuñ zarra hairāñ ze mehr-e-āñ-mah bagashtam āḳhir

na niiñd naināñ na añg chaināñ na aap aave na bheje patiyāñ

chun sham-e-sozan chun zarra hairan ze mehr-e-an-mah bagashtam aaKHir

na nind nainan na ang chainan na aap aawe na bheje patiyan

shabān-e-hijrāñ darāz chuuñ zulf roz-e-vaslat chū umr kotāh

sakhī piyā ko jo maiñ na dekhūñ to kaise kāTūñ añdherī ratiyāñ

shaban-e-hijran daraaz chun zulf roz-e-waslat chu umr kotah
