Profile of Ismail Wafa
He was born in Malegaon, a city in the state of Maharashtra. Since 2007, he has been associated with Daman-e-Adab and has been actively engaged as a serious young historian and writer in the fields of objective, biographical, and non-fiction literature. His writing style is simple, fluent, and scholarly, marked by research, authentic references, and a strong sense of historical consciousness.
The publication and editing of Malegaon’s local literary heritage is a significant aspect of his literary contributions. So far, ten books have been included in his literary corpus. His book “Raftgaan ke Gulaab Chehre” is a collection of essays on Muslim personalities featured on Indian postage stamps, for which he was honored with the Maharashtra State Urdu Sahitya Academy Award (2020).
His latest book, “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav aur Urdu”, has received nationwide attention from critics and readers alike and is regarded as an important documentary contribution highlighting the national and historical role of the Urdu language.
