H جلا जला jalā (perf. part. of jalnā, q.v.), part. adj. (f. -ī), Burnt, &c.:—jalā-balā, jalā-bhunā, adj. (f. -ī), Burned, scorched, burnt up; inflamed, angry, enraged; fretful, irritable, irascible, passionate; grieved, wounded, hurt:—jale pāʼoṅ-kī billī, A restless person, a vagabond, vagrant (one who is restless and unsettled like a cat that has burnt its foot; the corresponding Persian phrase is sag-ě-pā-soḵẖta, or simply pā-soḵẖta); a woman with a sneaking, stealthy tread, a sly cat:—jale-par non ćhiṛaknā or lagānā, To sprinkle salt on, or apply salt to, a wounded part; to exult over one in trouble or distress, &c.; to insult:—jale phaphole phornā (-ke or apne), To vent (one's) rage (on):—jalā tan, adj.
