A خراج ḵẖarāj, vulg. ḵẖirāj (v.n. fr. خرج 'to come out,' &c.), s.m. Tax, tribute, impost, duty, revenue (syn. kar):—ḵẖirāj taḥṣīl-karne-wālā, s.m. Tax-gatherer; rent-collector:—ḵẖirāj-ě-zamīn, s.m. Land tax; revenue from land:—ḵẖirāj-guẕār, adj. & s.m. Paying tax, or tribute, or rent;—a tributary; one who pays revenue to Government:—ḵẖirāj lagānā (-par), To tax, to assess; to levy tribute or a contribution (on).
