aaj ik aur baras biit gayā us ke baġhair
jis ke hote hue hote the zamāne mere
nāhaq ham majbūroñ par ye tohmat hai muḳhtārī kī
chāhte haiñ so aap kareñ haiñ ham ko abas badnām kiyā
TRANSLATION
Us weak, she wrongfully accuses, of taking untold liberty
while she acts as she chooses, and maligns us needlessly

nahaq hum majburon par ye tohmat hai muKHtari ki
chahte hain so aap karen hain hum ko abas badnam kiya
saaqī mujhe sharāb kī tohmat nahīñ pasand
mujh ko tirī nigāh kā ilzām chāhiye

saqi mujhe sharab ki tohmat nahin pasand
mujh ko teri nigah ka ilzam chahiye
kyuuñ tire dard ko deñ tohmat-e-vīrānī-e-dil
zalzaloñ meñ to bhare shahr ujaḌ jaate haiñ
kyun tere dard ko den tohmat-e-virani-e-dil
zalzalon mein to bhare shahr ujaD jate hain
lazzat-e-dard milī ishrat-e-ehsās milī
kaun kahtā hai ham us bazm se nākām aa.e
lazzat-e-dard mili ishrat-e-ehsas mili
kaun kahta hai hum us bazm se nakaam aae
ishq phir ishq hai jis ruup meñ jis bhes meñ ho
ishrat-e-vasl bane yā ġham-e-hijrāñ ho jaa.e
