sadiyon se rah takti hui ghaTiyon mein tum

dil se har guzri baat guzri hai

rawish rawish pe hain nikhat-fashan gulab ke phul

bane ye zahr hi wajh-e-shifa jo tu chahe

baDhi jo had se to sare tilism toD gai

har waqt fikr-e-marg-e-gharibana chahiye

mahakte miThe mastane zamane

din kaT rahe hain kashmakash-e-rozgar mein

baras gaya ba-KHarabaat-e-arzu tera gham

jo dil ne kah di hai wo baat an-kahi bhi na thi

kya rup dosti ka kya rang dushmani ka

aur ab ye kahta hun ye jurm to rawa rakhta

dil ne ek ek dukh saha tanha

chehra udas udas tha maila libas tha

is apni kiran ko aati hui subhon ke hawale karna hai

meri manind KHud-nigar tanha

ek ek jharoka KHanda-ba-lab ek ek gali kohram

junun-e-ishq ki rasm-e-ajib kya kahna

safar ki mauj mein the waqt ke ghubar mein the

apne dil ki khoj mein kho gae kya kya log

gahre suron mein arz-e-nawa-e-hayat kar

kya sochte ho ab phulon ki rut bit gai rut bit gai

jo ho sake to mere dil ab ek wo qissa bhi

phir to sab hamdard bahut afsos ke sath ye kahte the

kabhi to soch tere samne nahin guzre

ek umr dil ki ghat se tujh par nigah ki

jab ek charagh-e-rahguzar ki kiran paDe

ishq ki Tisen jo mizrab-e-rag-e-jaan ho gain

tere farq-e-naz pe taj hai mere dosh-e-gham pe galim hai

ek sans ki maddham lau to yahi ek pal to yahi ek chhin to yahi

bacha ke rakkha hai jis ko ghurub-e-jaan ke liye

chandni mein saya-ha-e-kaKH-o-ku mein ghumiye

qarib-e-dil KHarosh-e-sad-jahan hum

ho ke is chashm-e-mai-parast se mast

qasid-e-mast-gam mauj-e-saba

jawedan qadron ki shamen bujh gain to jal uThi taqdir-e-dil
