har ek ka hami wo musibat mein hua hai

teri gali mein tere jaan-nisar baiThe hain

gila sitam ka na shikwa hai bewafai ka

hijr ho anjam jis ka wo visal achchha nahin

kaifiyyat-e-dil aur hai ahwal-e-jigar aur

zamin ko sar pe uThae hue na chal ghafil

kis bazm mein shama tu nahin hai

mal kuchh shai hai na kuchh sahib-e-saman hona

duniya mein hum sa koi sarapa-alam nahin

paDi jo shoala-e-ruKH par nazar mein aag lagi

sitam firaq ke sadmon ne ai nigar kiya
