Pen Name : 'Ahmad Jamal Pasha'
Real Name : Agha Mohammad Nuzhat Pasha
Born : 01 Jun 1939 | Lucknow, Uttar pradesh
Identity: Ahmad Jamal Pasha was a well-known Urdu essayist, journalist, and creative writer. He combined humor and satire with serious thinking and social awareness. He had the special ability to present simple topics in a new and meaningful way.
His real name was Agha Muhammad Nuzhat Pasha. He was born on June 1, 1929, in Allahabad. He passed his matriculation in 1950, intermediate in 1953, and completed his B.A. from Lucknow University in 1959. Later, he earned his M.A. degree in 1961 from Aligarh Muslim University.
After finishing his studies, he returned to Lucknow and began a career in journalism. His experience as a journalist gave depth and clarity to his writing. His essays reflected daily life, social problems, and the changing condition of literature.
His writing showed a balance of sharp satire and gentle humor. He strongly opposed cheap jokes and believed that literature should guide society, not only entertain people.
Some of his famous books include Andesha-e-Shahr, Sitam Ijaad, Lazzat-e-Azad, Mazameen-e-Pasha, Chashma-e-Hairaan, Aasar-e-Qayamat, and Fan-e-Lateefa Goi. His important essays, such as Adab Mein Martial Law, Hijrat, Shor, and Be-Tarteebi, are highly valued in Urdu literature.
He wrote on social, political, and literary issues and tried to bring positive change through his work. His creative writing reached its peak in the 1970s.
Death: On September 27, 1987, hesuffered a heart attack during a radio program in Patna and passed away on September 28, 1987. He was buried on September 29, 1987, in Siwan.
