Maulwi Mohammad Salamatullah, famously known as Siraj al-Asfiya, Hazrat Allama Mufti Hafiz Abul Zaka Shah Muhammad Salamatullah Muhaddith Rampuri, was among the distinguished Islamic scholars and spiritual masters of the Indian subcontinent. He rendered remarkable services in the fields of religious scholarship, spiritual guidance, authorship, and teaching. He was born in Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, India. From an early age, he displayed a deep inclination toward religious learning, spirituality, and intellectual excellence, which later earned him a prominent place among the leading scholars of his era.

He was a highly accomplished Islamic scholar, eminent Muhaddith, authorized spiritual guide, prolific author, and served as the principal and teacher at Madrasa Irshad-ul-Uloom, Rampur. He possessed profound expertise in Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, logic, and Sufism. His institution became a center of knowledge and practice where students and seekers benefited immensely from his teachings and spiritual insight. Alongside his mastery of outward religious sciences, he was also renowned for his piety, asceticism, spiritual refinement, and moral discipline.

Hazrat Shah Muhammad Salamatullah Rampuri devoted his entire life to the dissemination of Prophetic knowledge, spiritual reformation, and the moral training of society. His writings are valued for their scholarly depth, analytical style, and reformative spirit. His life remains a shining example of sincerity, devotion, simplicity, and service to religion.

He passed away on 8 Jumada al-Awwal 1338 AH, corresponding to January 1920 CE, and was laid to rest at Dargah Irshadiya, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Even today, his name is remembered with great reverence and respect in scholarly and spiritual circles.
