Syed Muzaffar Husain Burney (14 August 1923 – 7 February 2014) was a distinguished Indian civil servant, writer, researcher, and noted scholar of Allama Iqbal. Born in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, he pursued higher education before entering government service and went on to hold several senior administrative positions.

Burney served in various important positions in the Indian administration and later held gubernatorial offices in different states. Despite his demanding administrative career, he maintained a strong interest in literature, research, and intellectual affairs.

His major area of scholarly interest was Allama Iqbal, whose poetry, philosophy, and ideas of national integration he studied extensively. He authored several books and essays on Iqbal, including works dealing with Iqbal's contribution to national integration and Indian intellectual life. His writings reflect a sustained engagement with Iqbal's thought, Indian culture, and the idea of national unity.

He also served as the Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Syed Muzaffar Husain Burney died in New Delhi on 7 February 2014. His legacy combines a distinguished career in public administration with significant contributions to literary and Iqbal studies.
